The Third Edition of the ICCA-Guillermo Aguilar-Alvarez Memorial Prize opens for entries
ICCA is pleased to announce that the ICCA-Guillermo Aguilar-Alvarez Memorial Prize is now open for entries for its third edition.
The Prize is awarded biennially by ICCA during its Congress to the individual under 40 who has written the best published work on international arbitration, conciliation or other forms of dispute settlement over the previous two years.
The winner of the third Prize will be invited to the ICCA Congress in Madrid in April 2026 and will receive funding to attend the event.
ICCA established the ICCA-Guillermo Aguilar-Alvarez Memorial Prize in early 2019 in memory of former ICCA Governing Board Member, Guillermo Aguilar-Alvarez, who was an active and beloved member of the arbitration community. The inaugural Prize was awarded to Professor Julian Arato for his essay entitled “The Private Law Critique of International Investment Law” published in the American Journal of International Law in 2019. The 2024 Prize was awarded to Bálint Kovács, for a paper entitled “Watch for the Ripples, Not Just the Splash: How the EU Position on Investment Arbitration Has Affected the Enforcement of Awards” published in the Central European Journal of Comparative Law in 2022.
To apply for the 2026 ICCA-Guillermo Aguilar-Alvarez Memorial Prize, please review the submission requirements carefully and then apply via the online form on the ICCA website.
