ICCA Congresses

ICCA’s biennial Congress is the largest regular gathering of international dispute resolution specialists worldwide. Practitioners and academics from across the globe come together over a period of several days to present and discuss papers on different aspects of international dispute resolution. ICCA Congresses are known for stimulating development in the field of international arbitration, and cater to both newcomers and experts in the dispute resolution community.

Bidding to Host the Congress

ICCA Congresses have historically highlighted their host countries as safe seats for arbitration and stimulated the practice of international arbitration at the host venue. The bid to host the XXVIIIth ICCA Congress was won by ICDR (International Centre for Dispute Resolution) and CalArb (California Arbitration) and the Congress will take place in San Francisco in 2028. The bidding process for the XXIXth ICCA Congress will be initiated in the second half of 2025. The successful bid will be selected at the 2026 ICCA Governing Board Meeting in Madrid. The Bidding Guidelines, FAQs and schedule below refers to the bidding process for the XXVIIIth Congress and remain on our website for general background information. Please note that the bidding guidelines are currently being revised, and that updated versions of the guidelines, FAQs and schedule will apply to the bidding for the XXIXth Congress.
