ICCA 2024 Hong Kong Congress Programme Snapshot Released
ICCA has published a snapshot of panels and speakers for the next ICCA Congress, to be held from 5 to 8 May 2024 in Hong Kong.
ICCA 2024's theme is “International Arbitration: A Human Endeavour,” designed to inspire debate on the impact of human nature and behaviour on international arbitration and, conversely, arbitration's impact on people.
As previously announced, Professor Bryant Garth will deliver the Opening Keynote address. A leading expert in the cross-disciplinary analysis of the sociology of arbitration, Professor Garth is well known to the arbitration world as the co-author of Dealing in Virtue.
“The Hong Kong Congress promises to present a diverse programme of panels featuring exceptional individuals, and offer unique perspectives on international arbitration as a human endeavour," said ICCA President Dr Stanimir A. Alexandrov.
Over 300 high-quality expressions of interest on the theme were received from the international arbitration community.
"Choosing from such a huge number of inspirational ideas was extremely challenging, " said ICCA 2024 Programme Committee Co-Chairs Chiann Bao and Audley Sheppard KC. "We've selected a wide range of thought-provoking speakers, with presentations and discussions around three pillars: Arbitrator, Advocate and Machine."
"These sessions will examine how people affect, and are affected by, the players and processes for dispensing arbitral justice," the Co-Chairs add.
The Hong Kong Host Committee Co-Chairs, Neil Kaplan CBE KC SBS and Justin D’Agostino MH, together with Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre Secretary-General, Dr. Mariel Dimsey, are delighted with the programme.
“The theme of international arbitration as a human endeavour resonates deeply with Hong Kong, a place where a rich tapestry of cultures, traditions, and perspectives converge. We are confident that the carefully curated panels will provide a remarkable platform for insightful exchanges of experiences in the heart of Asia and around the globe."
ICCA looks forward to the interdisciplinary exchange between scholars, social scientists, and practitioners from all over the world. The aim of the Congress is to provide delegates with a broad range of perspectives and insights.
