ICCA Inclusion Fund
The ICCA Inclusion Fund was established by the ICCA Inclusiveness Committee pursuant to its Diversity and Inclusion Policy and Diversity and Inclusion Implementation Plan of 11 May 2020. The objective of the Fund is to support engagement in ICCA activities for those who do not have adequate means. ICCA has provided funding for a number of ICCA and Young ICCA members to attend ICCA events including Congresses in Edinburgh in 2022 and Hong Kong in 2024, and the ICCA-KIAC Conference in Kigali in 2025.
Funding for Congress and conference attendance is provided by ICCA with the generous cooperation of the Congress and conference hosts.
Applications for 2026 Inclusion Fund Now Open
The ICCA Inclusion Fund is now open for applications for funding to attend the ICCA 2026 Congress in Madrid. This congress will focus on the theme “International Arbitration: Local, Global or Both?”.

Application Process for funding to attend the 2026 ICCA Congress in Madrid
Application Requirements
Applicants must be members of ICCA and/or Young ICCA.
To apply for funding, applicants must submit (in the form of a single PDF):

A letter of motivation including (a) a description of the anticipated benefits of Congress attendance for the applicant’s professional development and (b) a description of the applicant’s financial need (maximum word count: 750 words);

A resume or CV.
Applications should be in English or accompanied by a full English translation.
Applications must be submitted via the application form on this page of the ICCA website before the deadline of 12 October 2025. The application form will also solicit the following information from applicants: first and last name; gender (female, male, or prefer not to specify); nationality; residence; whether the applicant is authorized to practice law in any jurisdiction and if so, which one(s); current profession and affiliation; whether they are members of ICCA or Young ICCA; whether they are applying for additional funding to cover travel expenses; and contact details.

Funding will be awarded by an Inclusion Fund Subcommittee composed of members of the ICCA Inclusiveness Committee, supported by the ICCA Bureau.

Applications will be evaluated by the Fund Subcommittee according to (but not limited to) the following criteria:
- ICCA’s mission of promoting diversity and inclusion in international dispute resolution and whether applicants represent historically disadvantaged or underrepresented (minority) groups, including in relation to age, colour, disability, ethnicity, gender, indigenous origin, nationality, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status;
- The professions of the applicants, including arbitration practitioners, judges, lawyers in public service, and advanced students who are members of Young ICCA;
- Previous active involvement in ICCA and/or Young ICCA activities; and
- Objective and subjective financial need, assessed pursuant to metrics such as the OECD DAC List of ODA (Aid) Recipients as “least developed countries” or other low-income countries and the personal financial circumstances of applicants.
Funding from the Inclusion Fund is open to applicants of any race, colour, nationality or ethnic origin. However, applicants who are related to ICCA Foundation, Inc. Board Members, ICCA NGO Governing Board Members, Young ICCA Co-Chairs, ICCA Bureau staff members and any individual involved in the Fund Subcommittee’s decision-making process are not eligible to apply.
Terms and Conditions
1. The ICCA Inclusion Fund (“the Inclusion Fund”) was established by ICCA Foundation, Inc. (“ICCA”) and its Inclusiveness Committee pursuant to its Diversity and Inclusion Policy and Diversity and Inclusion Implementation Plan of 11 May 2020.
2. The objective of the Inclusion Fund is to support engagement in ICCA activities for those who do not have adequate means. In 2026, ICCA will fund a number of ICCA and Young ICCA members to attend the ICCA Congress in Madrid in person from 12-15 April 2026 (“the Congress”).
3. Grants will take the form of funding to attend ICCA 2026 Madrid.
4. Funding by the Inclusion Fund will be awarded by a Fund Subcommittee (“the Fund Subcommittee”) composed of members of the ICCA Inclusiveness Committee. Administration of the Fund falls under the ICCA Inclusiveness Committee and Executive Body and is supported by the ICCA Bureau.
5. Disbursements from the Fund shall be awarded on an objective and non-discriminatory basis.
6. Eligibility:

Applicants must be members of ICCA and/or Young ICCA.

Each applicant may only submit one application for funding.

Recipients of funding will be selected based solely on the determination of the Fund Subcommittee.

Applicants who are related to ICCA Foundation, Inc. Board Members, ICCA NGO Governing Board Members, Young ICCA Co-Chairs, ICCA Bureau staff members and any individual involved in the Fund Subcommittee’s decision-making process will be excluded from consideration. For this purpose, related applicants include the spouses, siblings, spouses of siblings, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, ancestors, and spouses of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the aforementioned individuals.

In the event that an applicant shares an institutional affiliation with a member of the Fund Subcommittee (e.g., the same law firm, law faculty, or arbitral institution), that Fund Subcommittee member will recuse him- or herself from participating in the relevant decision.

No recipient of funding is required to perform any services to ICCA Foundation, Inc. or the ICCA NGO in return for the granting of funding.

12. Recipients of funding may be required to participate in a group photo during the event and be invited to provide a voluntary (video) testimonial attesting to the benefit(s) they have derived from the funding.
